Meet the Judges: Designers of the Year Awards 2023
For the 2023 Western Living Designers of the Year Awards, Livingspace is proud to be represented amongst this year’s Furniture Design category judges. Ross Bonetti will join Guilia Molteni of Molteni Group and designer Thom Fougere of Thom Fougere Studio on the panel.
The Western Living Designers of the Year Awards are unique in that judges look at a comprehensive body of work of entrants, rather than a single project or moment in time. Winning this prestigious award reflects a holistic celebration of all the work that is put in by designers across many disciplines.

Ratio Kitchen

The Intersection kitchen from Molteni – characterized by its geometric shapes, striking use of contrasting materials, including wood, glass, and metal – is a contemporary masterpiece that showcases the brand’s design prowess and commitment to functionality.

- Kitchen islands consist of processed wood cabinets in Black Oak
- Oval snack top with process wood veneer in Thermo Oak
- Natural Lava stone worktop with knife edge
Gliss Master Closet System
The Gliss Master closet designed by Vincent Van Duysen for Molteni features a modular design that can be customized to fit any space, with a variety of finishes and accessories available to create personalized storage solutions.

- “Bamboo” doors in eco-leather
- Glass “Sistema 7” bi-fold opening doors
- Integrated LED lighting configured for functionality

While the current frigid winter temperatures may have you feeling like summer is a lifetime away, spring is just around the corner. With warmer temperatures our attention inevitably turns toward outdoor living, but the issue many people face is that by the time they realize they want to update or furnish their outdoor spaces, it’s already too late due to the time it takes for the items to be manufactured and shipped. If you want your outdoor living space to be ready for summer, we recommend you get started now!
Extensive lead times make timing essential.
Whether you’re looking to level up your outdoor game and make a statement with the latest outdoor collection from Minotti, create an outdoor sanctuary with designs that are both durable and inspired by nature from RODA, or upgrade to iconic forever classics by Richard Schultz, they all have one thing in common – lead times.
It can take weeks and even months from order placement for your items to arrive on your patio. The reason for this is that designer items are usually made to order. Furthermore, once an order has been placed and the product has been manufactured to your specifications, it can take another several weeks of transit time for the items to arrive, depending on where they are shipping from.
Many of our brands ship from Italy. Others, such as the famous 1966 Collection from the godfather of modern outdoor furniture, Richard Schultz, ship from the United States and will take less time.
In-stock designer options are limited, but can provide a quick turnaround time.
The exception to the rule in terms of lead times are select products from brands such as Knoll and Coro. While these are still designer items and represent the finest in craftsmanship and design, some of their products are ready-made, enabling us to stock them in anticipation of the upcoming summer season.
Our Ready-To-Ship inventory includes a wide range of products, including outdoor and indoor furniture, lighting and accessories.

Odlum Brown VanOpen 2022
Livingspace sponsors the tennis tournament's triumphant return to Vancouver.
After a two year hiatus, the Odlum Brown VanOpen returns to Vancouver this month! The tournament will take place at Hollyburn Country Club in West Vancouver from August 14th – 21st, 2022.
This year’s tournament has been promoted to a combined ATP Challenger Tour 125 and WTA 125 event, which promises a higher level of competition for both men and women. The player lineup includes the likes of Rebecca Marino, Eugenie Bouchard, Fernando Verdasco, BC’s own Vasek Pospisil, and many more.. See the complete lineup here.

Battersby Howat Architects’ villa in West Vancouver brings together quiet luxury and lush landscapes.
West Vancouver’s Bonetti II Residence came about when a long-term friend and business associate asked architects David Battersby and Heather Howat to design his new Vancouver house.
The duo not only took the opportunity to craft a contemporary family home that elegantly straddles glamour and modesty, they also had the chance to conceive the house as a 21st-century interpretation of West Coast modernism. Sympathetically bridging the built and the natural.
Student Design Challenge
Calling all up-and-coming interior designers of British Columbia!
Think you can design the ultimate hybrid work space of the future?
Livingspace is excited to announce our partnership with LIV Design Studio for their first ever Student Design Challenge.
Students and recent graduates from select post-secondary schools across British Columbia have been tasked to envision and create a design for a hybrid workspace accommodating the rapidly-advancing Interior Design Industry.
Winners will have the opportunity to present their designs in AR to the local interior design community during IDS Vancouver in September 2022, while also competing for cash prizes (up to $8,000) and an internship opportunity at LIV Design Studio.
The final award ceremony will take place at the Livingspace Interiors showroom in late September where students can celebrate their work and meet peers over drinks and appetizers.
