Alda Pereira and Livingspace join forces to transform the kitchen of the Fort Langley project into a true masterpiece.

When this home was originally built in the early 2000s, home owners and architects aimed to create a space that seamlessly blended modern design with the natural elements of the surrounding countryside.

To achieve this contemporary aesthetic, reclaimed lumber from a grain elevator was used, shaping the vision of the Fort Langley project with its vaulted, cascading wooden ceilings that extended throughout the entire home, including the kitchen.

In this 2023 renovation, the design team preserved the original lumber pillars, keeping them as the central focal point of the space. Their approach included a fresh colour palette, a variety of textures, and reorienting the kitchen layout, which now includes two VVD islands to enhance workflow and complement the overall balance of the home.

This Molteni&C kitchen encompasses elements of the VVD Dada Engineered kitchen solution, a design by the renowned Vincent Van Duysen. With cabinetry in Walnut and Ferrovia Steel, and primary island work and sink tops crafted in Ceppo stone, sourced exclusively from the quarries of Lake Iseo in Lombardy, Italy. The serene grey tones of Ceppo harmoniously blend with the remaining worktops and backsplash, constructed from Silestone “Royal Reef.”

In departure from convention, the client opted to forgo upper cabinetry in favour of custom VVD display towers with pull-out drawers and sleek LED illumination. This innovative choice not only provides ample storage but also infuses a sense of unique contrast into the kitchen. The LED illumination is also featured in the display drawers along the back of the primary island, creating a truly exceptional and functional kitchen space.
